Shelled Hazelnuts
Organic
Georgia
Whole, roasted hazelnuts from the Samegrelo region in western Georgia. Our partner Pakka cracks, shells and roasts the nuts on site, creating jobs and income in the region. The nuts are crunchy with a slightly sweet taste and a bold, roasted aroma. They go very well with chocolate.
Storage & shelf life
Due to their high fat content, hazelnuts have a limited shelf life at room temperature. Once opened, keep nuts in a tightly closed container in the fridge or consume them quickly. Make sure that the container is as airtight as possible to prevent moisture from reaching the nuts. You can also freeze nuts and seeds to extend their shelf life by a few months.

JILDA GEGECHKORI
FARMER FROM DARCHELI, GEORGIA
I love winter. By then, all the crops have been harvested and I have time to rest.
"I live in the western part of Georgia, in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region. Legend has it that this is the motherland of hazelnut cultivation. Most people in my village are involved in hazelnut production, my family included. We earn most of our income from hazelnut cultivation. My husband also makes worm compost, which provides our second source of income. He's an expert in soil fertility and tries to share his knowledge with the village as well."
