On land confiscated from the mafia by the Italian State, the members of the Libera Terra cooperative cultivate tomatoes on dry land, harvest them by hand and process them into passata. No preservatives, no additives. One jar contains 410 grams.

Background

What's left after the Mafia has gone?
Libera Terra Mediterraneo is a cooperative that brings together a dozen smaller cooperatives in Sicily, Calabria, Campania and Apulia. All members of the cooperatives produce grain for pasta along with pulses. In Sicily, they also grow tomatoes. Libera Terra's mission is to create self-sufficient, long-term cooperatives in areas that once belonged to the Mafia. They produce high-quality food in harmony with the environment and people. The aim is to create a sustainable economic system based on legal compliance and social justice.
