Real jasmine rice comes from Thailand and is called Hom Mali, which means white flower. However, this rice is unhusked and has a rather brown colour. It contains many more vitamins and minerals than husked rice. Brown rice has a stronger taste than husked rice, but is also characterized by a floral aroma. The cooking time of brown rice is approximately 40 to 50 minutes.
Use & preparation
Preparation (basic recipe for 2 people): Wash ½ cup rice twice, put in a saucepan, add 1.5 times the amount of water, add salt, soak for 10 minutes, then bring to the boil. Immedialtely bring the heat down to medium and let the rice simmer for about 30-40 minutes with the lid on.
