Oregano
Organic
Greece
Dried oregano, organically grown in the region around the village of Leonidio. Entirely processed and packaged locally.
Storage & shelf life
Store oregano in a dark, cool place and keep the mixture away from light and moisture. It is best kept in ceramic or metal containers. Do not store over the cooker, as steam and heat will damage the aroma of the spices.
CHRISTOS THANOPOULOS
FARMER FROM ISOMA, GREECE
Many animals are attracted by organically grown herbs. We've seen tortoises, rabbits and snakes here.
"As an agricultural scientist, I have been working with farmers for over 15 years. I have observed the use of fertilisers and pesticides for many years. At some point, I felt the need to change something. So in 2017, I started growing my own herbs." Christos Thanopoulos and his family live in the port city of Patras. His fields are situated at the foot of Mount Erimanthos. "The climate and soil here are remarkably well suited for producing aromatic herbs. I often take my children along to the fields on weekends so that they can foster a relationship with nature. I want them to see, touch and smell the plants."
